Things
(workin' on it)
The framing of Things should be a discussion of things in the CASE / QARD / Edition 13 / fnord (duh), from their beginnings to how they exist now, along with talk of how they might have enabled and/or shaped the development of society.
Wif descriptions of how they all work, of course. Categories of Things:
* Weapons! Stuffs like blunt weapons, edged weapons, arrowy weapons, bullety weapons, missiley weapons, and so on. Beyond the basic descriptions I crapped out in the Technical Reference.
* Communications! starting with Writing (maybe include an optional 'literacy' or 'reading' talent), going on to semaphore, telephony, radio, to current cell service. include satellite whatsits and all that, since we've had consumer LEO satellite phones since Iridium.
* Transportations! ranging from canoes to chariots to chuck wagons to buicks to an air train! the idea is to go over the history of transportation and how it has developed while fleshing vehicles out. there's a method to all this history lesson though, i assure you.
* Computations! i went over the whole 'how' of computers previously, so i figure this might talk about how they've changed over time, cover assorted devices in Technical Reference terms, expound on software and the like, and maybe a bit of speculative hooey?
* Medications! basically speak of medicine overall. from the stone age to now, that sort of thing. The idea of having none puts the whole 'disease' thing from the ABC into sharp focus, doesn't it? hard to make RULES for this, but it's worth going over.
* Others! stuff like armor maybe, if i have anything else to add, restraints maybe (from whips to nets to bolas to cuffs), less lethal weaponry (stun guns, rubber bullets, etc), definitely touch on important developments like agriculture and resource management enabling civilization and all that.
* Possibly some speculative sci-fi bullshit, assuming I don't save that for one of my down-the-line expansions I intend to cash in on. CASH IN, YO. if I do, i'd cover things like antigravity 'Gravanti (R)' and assorted ray guns and nano hogwash and maybe t-phones and and and
